Pick .in if you sell only in India and .com if you may sell abroad or want the familiar ending. Keep it short, spell it as it sounds, and check the Instagram handle is free with the same name. Avoid hyphens and numbers. Register for two or more years so it never lapses before a sale season.
In your registrar's DNS settings you add a record that points the domain at your store, then verify in the store settings. The store issues an HTTPS certificate automatically. Both the www and bare versions should open the store. The change takes minutes to a few hours to spread.
The free address works for Instagram, WhatsApp and ads from day one. Buy the domain once the first orders are in and you know the name is right. When you connect it, your old links keep working.
