The plan price is the number everyone compares, and it's usually the smaller part of the bill. For an Indian store the real monthly cost is plan + Shopify's fee on gateway payments + the gateway's own fee + apps. Here's each part, with a worked example at 300 and 1,000 orders a month.
These are the prices on Shopify's India pricing page in October 2026. Shopify changes plans from time to time, so check the page before you decide.

New stores get a 3-day free trial, then ₹20 a month for the first three months on the main plans.
Indian stores take online payments through gateways like Razorpay, PayU, Cashfree or PhonePe. When you do, Shopify adds its own percentage on top of what the gateway charges. On Basic that's 2% of every prepaid order. A ₹1,000 UPI order on Basic costs you the gateway's fee plus ₹20 to Shopify.
Shopify's core store doesn't cover several things Indian brands need, so most stores install apps for them:
App pricing varies a lot: some are free with paid tiers, some charge per order or per message. Add up the ones you'd actually use rather than trusting a single average.
Assumptions: average order ₹800, 40% of orders prepaid through a gateway, gateway fee 2%, apps ₹4,000 a month at 300 orders and ₹6,000 at 1,000 orders. Change these to your own numbers.

Grow costs ₹4,100 a month more than Basic on yearly billing, and halves Shopify's fee from 2% to 1%. So Grow only pays for itself on fees once your prepaid sales through third-party gateways pass about ₹4.1 lakh a month. Below that, Basic is cheaper unless you need Grow's staff accounts or reports.

Shopify is a strong storefront and plenty of brands do well on it. If most of your effort goes into COD, couriers and making the numbers agree, putting those on one platform usually costs less and saves hours every week. When you take payments through a third-party gateway such as Razorpay, PayU or Cashfree, Shopify charges its own fee on top of the gateway's: 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced and 0.2% on Plus. It applies to online payments, not to manual methods like cash on delivery.
No. Cash on delivery is a manual payment method, so Shopify's third-party transaction fee doesn't apply. COD still has costs from the courier's COD fee and returns.
Grow costs ₹4,100 a month more than Basic on yearly billing but cuts Shopify's fee from 2% to 1%. It pays off once your online (prepaid) sales through third-party gateways are above roughly ₹4.1 lakh a month, before counting Grow's other features.
No. There's a short free trial and a low introductory price for the first months, then the normal plan price applies. D2 Commerce OS is free forever up to 100 orders a month, with no time limit.
