Start from the selling price excluding GST, then subtract product cost, packaging, shipping, payment gateway fees on prepaid orders, the courier's COD fee on COD orders, the cost of returned COD parcels (shipping both ways and repacking) spread across all orders, and your ad cost per order.
A returned COD parcel costs shipping both ways and earns nothing, and its cost is carried by every order you deliver. A 20% return rate on COD orders can wipe out a large part of the margin on low-priced products.
No. GST collected is passed to the government (less input credit), so profit is calculated on the price excluding GST.
