Aggregator, direct courier, India Post or your own riders: what each is for.
Shiprocket and similar services give you Delhivery, Blue Dart, DTDC, Xpressbees, Ekart and others behind one account, with COD collection, pickup from your address and tracking pages for buyers. Charges are per parcel by weight slab and zone, with no minimum volume. This is the right start for almost every new store.
At a few hundred parcels a month a direct account with Delhivery or another courier can get you better rates and a dedicated pickup. India Post reaches pincodes that private couriers do not, at low cost, with slower transit. Many stores use both: aggregator for most orders, India Post for the rest.
If most buyers are in your city, same-day delivery by your own rider beats any courier on cost and experience. You need a rider app that gives the rider the route and lets them mark delivered, collect COD and take a photo. D2 Commerce OS includes an own-rider delivery app on the Brand plan.
Start with a courier aggregator such as Shiprocket for COD collection, labels and tracking from day one. Add direct courier accounts at higher volume, India Post for remote pincodes, and your own riders for local same-day delivery.
Charges are by weight slab and zone; a parcel within your city costs far less than one across the country. Check the aggregator's rate card for your typical weight.
